MIAMI -- The Miami Heat may protest what they believe was a scoring error in an overtime loss at Atlanta.
Shaquille O'Neal fouled out with 51 seconds remaining in Miami's 117-111 loss last night. But statsheets distributed immediately after the game showed the Miami center with five fouls.
The sheet was eventually revised to show O'Neal with six fouls, although those charting on the Miami bench also had O'Neal with five.
On what the Heat believe is the play in question, a foul they contend was committed by Udonis Haslem was charged to O'Neal. Miami coach Pat Riley says it was obvious that O'Neal was ``nowhere in the play.''
Under league rules, the Heat will have 48 hours to protest to the NBA.
Riley said his team has talked to the league about it. He said the league would make a determination on it and the Heat will decide whether to file a protest.
