ATLANTA - The Atlanta Braves on Saturday designated right-handed pitcher Lance Cormier for assignment to make room on their 40-man roster for left-handed pitcher Tom Glavine.
The Braves announced last month that Glavine has agreed to a $8 million, one-year deal to return to the team.
Cormier, 27, was 2-6 with a 7.09 in 10 games, including nine starts, for the Braves last season. He was 0-2 with a 15.46 ERA before the All-Star break and was 2-4 with a 5.45 after the break.
Cormier, who played at the University of Alabama, has a career record of 14-18 with a 5.98 ERA, including two years with the Arizona Diamondbacks (2004-05).
