Georgia Tech's Richard named second-team academic all-American

ATLANTA - Georgia Tech junior defensive lineman Darryl Richard was named a second-team academic all-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America today.<br />
<br />
Richard is Georgia Tech's first academic all-American since punter Dan Dyke in 2002.<br />
<br />
Richard already holds a degree in management with a 3.52 grade point average and currently is taking classes for his master's degree.<br />
<br />
He is a two-time Atlantic Coast Conference academic honor roll member and 2006 ACC All-Academic team pick. He is the team representative on the Georgia Tech student-athlete advisory board.<br />
<br />
Richard has 26 tackles and is fourth on the team with 10.5 tackles for loss. He is tied for fourth with 4.5 sacks.<br />
<br />
Richard and senior center Kevin Tuminello previously were named academic all-district by CoSIDA.<br />
