LULA - Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m.Saturday at Lakewood Baptist Church for Chris Wilsdon, 21, who was killed early Wednesday morning when his motorcycle hit a tractor-trailer.

Investigators say Wilsdon could not stop his motorcycle in time and slammed into the side of a tractor trailer truck which pulled into his path at the Ramsey Road intersection.

Motorists were detoured off Georgia Highway 365 to White Sulphur Road or Old Cornelia Highway while State Troopers investigated the collision .

Georgia State Patrol Sgt. Dean Allen said the northbound truck was turning in front of the cyclist onto Ramsey Road into the path of the south bound cycle.

"The motorcycle was unable to stop and struck the tractor trailor in the side," Allen said.

The crashed happened just before 7:00 and kept the road closed from till after 9:00.

North Hall head football Coach Bob Christmas described Wilsdon as very popular and a team player. Christmas told his team about the fatal crash at the end of the team's Wednesday morning practice.
