Gladiators trade Ryan Walsh

DULUTH - The Gwinntt Gladiators announced today that right wing Ryan Walsh has been traded to the Phoenix Roadrunners for future considerations. Walsh has played in 6 games for the Gladiators this season notching a goal and an assist for 2 points. Walsh has also registered 10 penalty minutes.

A native of Orleans, Ontario, Walsh joined the Gladiators this season after playing overseas in Germany during the 2006-07 season. Walsh played in 45 games in Germany and collected 29 points on 14 goals and 15 assists. Walsh finished the season fifth on the team in points and tied for third in goals.

Walsh played his college hockey at St. Francis Xavier University in Antogonish, Nova Scotia where he helped the X-Men to the CIS Championship in 2004. Over five season at SFX, Walsh tallied 105 points in 119 games notching 47 goals and 58 assists. During his senior season in 2005-06, Walsh led the X-Men in goals with 19, power play goals with 10 and game-winning goals with 3.

The Gladiators continue their fifth anniversary season on Friday, November 9th as they host the Mississippi Sea Wolves at the Arena at Gwinnett Center at 7:05 p.m. Catch all the play-by-play action in Friday's game via Accessnorthga.com streaming channel 3.

Celebrating its 20th Anniversary as the Premier 'AA' Hockey League in 2007-08, the ECHL began in 1988-89 with five teams in three states and has grown to be a coast-to-coast league that has 25 teams in 17 states and British Columbia in 2007-08. The 25 teams includes the Mississippi (Biloxi) Sea Wolves, who return after missing two seasons in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and the expansion Elmira (N.Y.) Jackals. The ECHL will play 900 games beginning Oct. 18 and concluding Apr. 5.
