GAINESVILLE - By sealing a win over the East Hall Vikings (0-9) Friday night, the North Hall Trojans (9-0) are only one week away from completing a perfect season. With eight different players scoring touchdowns and a fierce defensive effort, the Trojans dominated the night with a 73-20 win over the Vikings.
North Hall scored the first touchdown of the evening on a Fabian Jackson 49-yard strike to Dylon Wolf in the first minute of the game. The Trojans missed the PAT.
On the ensuing kickoff, the Vikings key return man, Marcellous Moon, returned the ball 31-yards (182-return yards on the night). On the second play of the drive, the Vikings fumbled and turned the ball over to the Trojans. Fabian Jackson then connected with Bobby Epps on a 62-yard scoring pass. North Hall's kicking game continued to struggle missing the second PAT in a row, leaving the score at 12-0.
For the final seven minutes of the first quarter, the Trojans continued to roll over the Vikings with a 50-yard touchdown run by Hunter Wolf and a 17-yard touchdown run by Bobby Epps, along with a pair of two-point conversions to close the first quarter at 28-0.
The second quarter was highlighted by a 60-yard interception return for a touchdown by Hunter Wolf and a 39-yard touchdown run by Ethan Chaffin. The Trojans moved at-will against the Vikings and the kicking game improved, leading to a 50-0 halftime lead.
The Vikings continued to flounder, giving up a safety in the opening minute of the second half. North Hall capped the third quarter with a four-yard Thomas Sprague touchdown run to close the quarter at 59-0.
North Hall scored quickly to start the fourth quarter, but East Hall answered with three quick scores. Josten Hopkins returned a kickoff 86 yards to the Trojan nine-yard line, and Montoius Tanner scored on the next play.
North Hall fumbled with 4:41 left in the game. East Hall took over and Vikings quarterback Desmond Gardner then connected with Bo Duckworth for a 25-yard touchdown pass.
The Trojans answered with a 60-yard touchdown run by Ben Booth, making it 73-14 at the 3:07 mark.
East Hall's final drive closed in exciting fashion with an 80-yard drive, highlighted by a 40-yard Hopkins run that resulted in a final six-yard diving touchdown by Gardner.
For the night, North Hall rushed for 342 yards and passed for 158 yards compared to 90 yards passing and 68 yards rushing for East Hall.
Next week both teams conclude the regular season with North Hall traveling to Chestatee and East Hall travels to Gilmer.
