Dwyer eager to show his skills

By Associated Press
ATLANTA - With Number-11 Virginia Tech visiting Bobby Dodd Stadium tomorrow night, Dwyer and Jamaal Evans must replace Tashard Choice and top backup Rashaun Grant.

Both were injured in a 24-point win over Army on October 20th.

Dwyer says he's excited at the opportunity.

Choice is the leading rusher in the Atlantic Coast Conference. But Coach Chan Gailey has all but ruled out any chance that he'll play because of a sore right knee.

Grant, who suffered a lower leg injury, is likely to miss the rest of the season.

Though Gailey indicated that Evans will start, the 5-and-3 Jackets also need production from Dwyer against a Virginia Tech defense that has few weaknesses.

The Hokies are ranked in the top 12 nationally against the run, the pass and in average points allowed.

A freshman from Marietta's Kell High School, Dwyer has run 48 times for 281 yards and seven touchdowns. Evans has 89 yards rushing and two TDs on 21 attempts.

The Yellow Jackets are 5-3 on the year.
