GAINESVILLE - An assistant Gainesville school superintendent is resigning after being arrested on marijuana and cocaine charges.
Curtis Bibb was arrested in Charleston, S. C. during the recent Christmas break, according to Superintendent Steve Ballowe, who says he learned of the arrest Tuesday - the fourth day of class following the break.
Dr. Ballowe says Bibb is currently on what was "represented by him," Bibb, as Family Medical Leave - and will not return to work until the investigation is completed.
Dr. Ballowe said both the facts related to the criminal charges and issues related to the failure to report the criminal charges, as required by the Board's policies, are under active investigation.
Reportedly, Bibb's attorney is sending the school system a letter of resignation, effective next Tuesday, January 16.
