LEXINGTON, KY. - The funeral will be held Saturday in Lexington, Ky., for Dr. Franklin Owen, a former pastor of Gainesville's First Baptist Church on Green Street.
Dr. Owen had lived in Lexington since 1954, according to an obituary in the Lexington Herald-Leader. He moved there from Gainesville and served as pastor of Lexington's Calvary Baptist Church until 1972.
That's when he become Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Kentucky Baptist Convention, a position he held until his retirement in 1983.
Dr. Owen died Wednesday at the age of 93 following an extended illness.
