GAINESVILLE - Forty days and forty nights, anyone? It's rained seven straight days in Gainesville - the first time that has happened this year, and coming at the end of a drought-plagued summer. But, it's done little ease the drought.
More than three inches has fallen since the streak began August 28.
The unofficial end of summer - August 31st - closed with 7,68 inches. The total for August was 3.10 inches; July, 1.29; June, 3.29. Normal for that three-month period is 11.93 inches.
Despite that, the rainfall deficit for the year in Gainesville is now 15.85 inches.
