Hall tax bills in the mail

By by Ken Stanford
GAINESVILLE - The fall nip in the air means more than football and autumn festivals - at least to Hall County property owners.

County Tax Commissioner Keith Echols says your tax bills are in the mail - 78,000 of them. Echols said Friday they began "going out" Wednesday and all should be delivered by Monday.

Payment is due Dec. 1. But you can pay on the installment plan until then, as long as the bill is "paid in full" by then. After Dec. 1, interest starts accruing.

Echols says he sent out about 3,000 more this year than last year and he says the number is increasing by about that amount each year.

He reminds us that the bills go to the owner of a piece of property as of Jan. 1 2006. He says if you think you should be getting a county property tax bill this year and have not received it by Oct. 15, to contact his office.
