GAINESVILLE - They are popping up like toadstools all over Georgia - campaign signs, and in many places, Gainesville included, they are winding up on public right-of-way, a violation of state law.
DOT spokesperson Teri Pope says DOT crews take the signs down and destroy them, "Signs along state routes and interstates in DOT right of way are illegal, any kind of sign."
Pope says a good rule of thumb is to put signs BEHIND power poles, that are usually placed near the edge of the state's right-of-way.
