EMS conference focuses on pediatric care

GAINESVILLE - A Georgia EMS conference dealing with emergency medical care for children is underway in Gainesville.

The two-day session opened Wednesday morning at the Georgia Mountains Center.

The Emergency Medical Services for Children's Program is a national initiative designed to reduce child and youth disability and death due to severe illness and injury. Medical personnel; parents and volunteers; community groups and businesses; and national organizations and foundations all contribute to the effort.

Hall County Fire Services is hosting the conference, the Georgia Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMS-C) Conference, at the Georgia Mountain Center.

This year's topics include:

· Pediatric Environmental Emergencies
· Burn Survivors
· Automatic External Defibrillators in Schools
· Meth Labs
· Sports and Kids
· Sexual Assault: The Child Victim
· Changes in Pre-Hospital Pediatric Care
· Georgia's Future: The EMS-C Way

Presenters include experts in pediatric and adolescent care.
