Layoffs, resignations at White Co. college

By by Ken Stanford
CLEVELAND - The transition from a two-year college to a four-year institution is proving to be a painfull process for Truett-McConnell College in Cleveland.

Published reports say two of the school's top administrators have resigned and 12 other staff and faculty members have lost their jobs for next year as TMC officials try to balance the 2006-2007 budget.

Vice president of administration Terry Caywood is quoted by the White County News-Telegraph as saying the transformation has required "difficult, prudent budget decisions."

The two administrators who resigned are Sam Cash, vice president of institutional advancement, and Alan Coker, vice-president for student services.
