ATHENS - Georgia freshman Nathan Moreau took a shutout into the ninth inning and the Bulldogs completed another SEC sweep by beating South Carolina 7-4 Sunday.
Georgia (31-16 overall, 13-11 Southeastern Conference) extended its winning streak to seven games, including a three-game sweep of Florida last weekend. It has moved from fifth place to second in the SEC's Eastern Division.
Georgia is 13-6 against ranked opponents this season, including 7-0 at home. South Carolina (32-16, 13-11) is No. 10 and Georgia is No. 25 in the USA Today/ESPN poll.
Freshman shortstop Gordon Beckham had three hits and Bobby Felmy drove in three runs for Georgia, which led 7-0 before the Gamecocks rallied in the ninth inning.
Moreau faced only three batters over the minimum through eight innings.
Moreau (6-1) gave up three hits and a run in the ninth before reliever Jason Leaver gave up a three-run homer to freshman Justin Smoak, his 12th of the year and second in two days.
Georgia closer Joshua Fields retired the next three Gamecocks.
``Nathan really gave us a lift today with an outstanding effort,'' said Georgia coach David Perno.
``USC has a great program and one of the best coaches in the country in Ray Tanner, and it says a lot about our guys to come through this weekend with a sweep.''
Georgia faces Georgia Tech Wednesday at Turner Field. The state rivals have split two games on campus sites this season.
