Hall planners to consider 140 new homes, wastewater treatment plant

GAINESVILLE - Nearly 150 new homes, an equestrian center, a wastewater treatment plant, and a solid waste transfer station are on the agenda for the June 5 Hall Planning Commission meeting.

Planners will be asked to consider three new subdivisions, all in North Hall and totaling 140 houses. They are proposed for Skitts Mountain Road at Campground Road (39 acres), Ben Parks Road near Jake Kemp Road (95 acres) and Dahlonega Highway at Timbercreek Trail (30 acres).

Lula wants to build a wastewater treatment plant near Georgia Highways 365 and 52 and is on the agenda, as well.

City manager Dennis Bergin says it will be a replacement facility for one that was built in 1974. Bergin says he hopes to begin seeking bids in August for Phase One of the work, which is expected to cost around $6 million. He said the plant has been two years in the works and that advances in technology will make it so much more enviornmentally friendly than the exisitng plant. Bergin said it will also be a boon to the economic in the Lula area.

The equestrian center would be at Price Road and Marks Drive and the solid waste transfer station on Monroe Drive near Danbury Lane.
