Two teens charged in taxicab robberies

<p>Two teenagers have been charged with armed robbery in a series of stolen taxicabs from earlier this month, authorities said.</p><p>The 15 and 16-year-old youths, who were arrested on Friday, claimed to be members of the subset Folks Nation gang, said Gwinnett County police spokesman Darren Moloney.</p><p>Moloney said police arrested the older teen at his home and confessed to the four robberies in the Norcross area. He also provided authorities with information that lead to the arrest of the 15-year-old, who also admitted to the crimes, Moloney said.</p><p>Police believe the teenagers used a cell phone to call a taxi cab several times, while they ordered the driver to take them around town. One of the teens would wave a handgun then demand the driver's money and cell phone, Moloney said.</p><p>When the suspect saw the taxi driver didn't have much cash, he demanded their cell phone, a police report said. The multiple crimes totaled around $500 and four cell phones, Moloney said.</p><p>Police are trying to determine whether these suspects may be responsible for other similar robberies.</p><p>___</p><p>HASH(0x1cd9abc)</p>
