Lanier Aquatics has strong showing at Senior State Championships

ATLANTA - All of the swim teams in Georgia that are governed by USA rules met at Georgia Tech this past weekend for the Senior State Championships. The Lanier Aquatics swim team had several swimmers place in the finals:<br> <br> Ben Gunn, a senior at Riverside Military Academy, placed 3rd in the 200 yard freestyle, 12th in the 50 yard freestyle, 8th in the 200 IM, 5th in the 100 yard back and 4th in the 200 yard backstroke. It should be noted that Ben achieved a Jr. National time in the 200 yard back.<br> <br> <br> Shane Hall, a junior at North Forsyth County, finished 32nd in the 100 yard butterfly, 11th in the 50 yard freestyle, 13th in the 100 yard backstroke, 24th in the 200 yard backstroke and 20th in the 100 yard freestyle.<br> <br> Ed Smith, a senior at Union County, finished 23rd in the 50 yard freestyle.<br> <br> <br> Conor Monaghan, a freshman at Heritage Academy, finished 29th in the 200 yard butterfly.<br> <br> Julia Maxie, a sophomore at North Forsyth, finished 31st in the 100 yard breaststroke.<br> <br> In the relays, the Lanier Aquatics Men took 6th in the 200 yard freestyle, 8th in the 200 yard IM, and 8th place in the 400 yard freestyle.<br> <br> The Lanier Aquatics Women took 15th in the 200 yard freestyle, 13th in the 400 yard freestyle and 17th in the 200 yard IM.<br> <br> Lanier Aquatics is coached by Jim Young. Jim Young also coaches the Brenau swim team.
