MOBILE, Ala. - Alabama linebacker Juwan Simpson and running backs Le'Ron McClain and Kenneth Darby have accepted invitations to play in the Senior Bowl, bowl officials said Friday.
The 6-foot, 258-pound McClain is rated as among the better pure fullbacks available in the 2007 NFL draft. He caught 19 passes for 166 yards and three touchdowns for the Crimson Tide, including the game-winning 2-yarder in overtime against Mississippi.
Darby is only the third Alabama tailback to rush for 3,000-plus yards in his career, posting two 1,000-yard seasons.
He needs 112 rushing yards in the Independence Bowl against Oklahoma State to pass Bobby Humphrey and move into second place on the school's all-time rushing list.
Simpson was second on the team with 73 tackles, including five stops for a loss. He had an interception and forced two fumbles.
The game is scheduled for Jan. 27 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
