GREENSBORO, N.C. - Jamon Gordon of Virginia Tech was named the player of the week in the Atlantic Coast Conference on Tuesday after averaging 22 points and eight rebounds in a pair of wins for the Hokies.<br>

Gordon, a 6-foot-3 guard, also had three assists and seven steals in an 80-61 win against Seton Hall on Dec. 20 and seven assists and a steal to help Virginia Tech (9-3) beat Campbell 94-70 on Friday.<br>

Gordon leads the conference with an average of nearly three steals a game.<br>

Jon Scheyer of Duke was the league's rookie of the week after averaging 15.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in a pair of close wins for the No. 5 Blue Devils (11-1).<br>

Scheyer, a 6-foot-5 guard, helped Duke beat Kent State on Dec. 18 by scoring 17 points and pulling down three rebounds. Two nights later, he had 14 points and four rebounds in a 61-54 win against Gonzaga.
