Roy Williams keeps saying only the Detroit Lions can stop their offense.

The receiver insisted that was the case when Detroit started 0-5, and repeated his belief after its second win in three games.

He just might be right.

Williams had six catches for 138 yards, including a 60-yard touchdown, and Kevin Jones ran for 110 yards and two scores Sunday to lead Detroit to a 30-14 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

"When we do things we're supposed to do, we put points on the board," Williams said. "I'm looking forward to scoring 40 points every Sunday."

Jon Kitna was 20-of-32 for 321 yards with a TD and an interception for the Lions.

Detroit's Mike Martz-directed attack helped the Lions score an average of 24 points during their previous five games, but they had only one win and four single-digit losses to show for it.

The Lions' defense finally came through, allowing the fewest points since the opener and making Michael Vick look ordinary again.

"I guess we had a little kryptonite for him," Detroit cornerback Fernando Bryant said.

Atlanta's electric quarterback threw for seven TDs and averaged 262 yards passing in the previous two games, both victories, but quickly found out it wouldn't be his day in Detroit.

Vick completed 17 of 32 passes for 163 yards _ numbers that would've been better had teammates not dropped several balls _ with a TD and two interceptions. He ran for 80 yards, but fumbled once.

"We had some breakdowns in protection," Vick said, rattling off problems in the game. "We had some dropped balls and I threw an interception at the goal line, which really hurt this football team.

"Defensively, we didn't stop them."

Vick fumbled on the Falcons' first drive, an unforced error as he held the ball like a loaf of bread, and threw an interception from deep in his end in the second quarter. Both led to Jones' TD runs and to Atlanta (5-3) falling out of a first-place tie with New Orleans in the NFC South.

"It was a major setback for us," Vick said.

The bye-rested Lions (2-6) were even more effective on offense with the return of guards Ross Verba and Barry Stokes.

"I didn't realize how much we missed those guys until today," Jones said. "The holes were there, and Jon had all the time he needed. That was big."

Vick's interception and fumble in the first half helped the Lions take a 17-14 lead into the third quarter.

Detroit drove to the 1 on its first drive of the second half before settling for Jason Hanson's second of three field goals and a six-point lead.

After Jonathan Babineaux's interception gave the Falcons the ball late in the third quarter, trailing by six points, they picked up only one first down punted.

Detroit made the missed opportunity costly for Atlanta.

Williams caught a pass on the right side, then cut across the field for a 60-yard TD and a 27-14 lead.

"Just run inside, there's nobody in there," Williams said. "(Pittsburgh's) Hines Ward scored on that same exact play."

Notes:@ After the opening kickoff, Atlanta's Kevin Mathis was strapped to a backboard and carted off the field after his helmet hit Eddie Drummond during his return. Mathis injured his neck, but had feeling and movement in all of his extremities, and was held overnight at a hospital for observation. ... Detroit WR Mike Williams, drafted 10th overall in 2005, was inactive for the sixth time this season.
