Future patrons view Spout Springs library plans

FLOWERY BRANCH - Future library users got a look at plans for Hall County's new Spout Springs branch Monday night at a community meeting hosted by the library system.

Ground breaking for the 22,000 square foot, $6-million library is slated for next January with estimated completion a year later according to system director Adrian Mixon.

The library site is next to the entrance of Sterling on the Lake, a developing residential community on Spout Springs Road near Flowery Branch.

Jim Wolfe, newly arrived from near New York City, said it would be convenient for him.

"I came to get information on what they were planning to do," Wolfe said.

Mixon said he was expecting suggestions on materials and services; visitors asked for several things and Mixon said they're already on the list.

"They want to know if we're going to have a children's room, a meeting room, are we going to be wireless; we're going to have all of those," Mixon said.

Mixon added that the library is located on a five-acre site three miles from any point in south Hall County.

"The state's recommending an urban area and this will truly be an urban area with a library situated within a 15 minute drive, you can't find a better place to put one," he said.
