Four sentenced in fatal robbery of armored truck

<p>Four men from southeast Georgia were sentenced to federal prison terms ranging from 25 years to life for the 2003 attempted robbery of an armored truck in which a security guard was killed, officials said Thursday.</p><p>U.S. District Court Judge Julie E. Carnes sentenced Ernest Romond Gibbs Jr., 26, of Surrency to life in prison for his part in the holdup attempt outside a Washington Mutual Bank branch in a strip mall in south Fulton County.</p><p>Michael Jerald Leggett, 29, of Jesup received 40 years, and Ricky Antonio Carter, 25, and Travis McKenzie Carter, 23, both of Baxley, each got 25-year sentences.</p><p>Bantek West Inc. guard Mustafa Koura, 28, or Norcross was killed. His partner, Izzay Denney, was shot three times but managed to stop the robbery by returning fire, hitting Leggett twice in the leg.</p>
