CLEMSON, S.C. - Clemson defensive end Xavier Littleberry was kicked off the team after he violated unspecified team rules, coach Tommy Bowden said Tuesday.
Littleberry, a redshirt freshman who played just three games last season and had one sack, is a suspect in an assault and indecent exposure incident Dec. 26 at an Orlando, Fla., hotel where the team was staying, The (Charleston) Post and Courier reported.
Danielle Tavernier, a spokeswoman for the state attorney's office, said Littleberry has not been charged with a crime, but the office will review the case and make a decision.
A sheriff's office report said a man later identified as Littleberry exposed himself to a 57-year-old hotel housekeeper and tried to force his way into a room she was cleaning about 9 a.m. the day before Clemson's 19-10 victory over Colorado at the Champs Sports Bowl, the newspaper reported.
Littleberry, a 20-year-old from Columbus, Ohio, was sent home before the bowl game for violating team rules.
He also was arrested in November 2004 and charged with assault and battery in Columbia after an incident on the University of South Carolina campus.
Clemson athletics department spokesman Tim Bourret said Littleberry was accepted into a pre-trial intervention program to expunge the charge from his record.
