Williams to join Mustain, Malzahn at Arkansas

SPRINGDALE, Ark. (AP) A second prized recruit from Springdale says he will join the Arkansas Razorbacks.<br> <br> Wide receiver Damian Williams joins quarterback Mitch Mustain, who thrilled the state two weeks ago when he said he would play at Arkansas. Mustain and Williams both had spectacular senior seasons while leading Springdale to the Class AAAAA championship.<br> <br> Williams had said he was going to attend Florida, but announced Monday he will remain in his home state with Houston Nutt and the Razorbacks. Arkansas hired Gus Malzahn, Williams&#39; coach at Springdale, as its offensive coordinator last month.<br> <br> ``After much consideration, my parents and I have decided that I&#39;ll be playing football for coach Nutt and the University of Arkansas Razorbacks,&#39;&#39; Williams said at a news conference, prompting cheers from the crowd.<br> <br> Mustain and Williams both flourished in Malzahn&#39;s spread offense last season, leading Springdale to a 14-0 season in which the Bulldogs outscored their opponents 664-118. Mustain threw for 3,817 yards and 47 touchdowns. Williams had 1,495 yards receiving and 24 touchdowns, and also rushed for 446 yards and 10 touchdowns.<br> <br> Mustain received plenty of national attention this season he was named Parade Magazine player of the year and Gatorade player of the year. But Williams received the Landers Award as Arkansas&#39; top player.<br> <br> ``I&#39;m glad he&#39;s on board,&#39;&#39; Mustain said.<br> <br> Williams is the second Springdale offensive star to switch from Florida to Arkansas since Malzahn was hired. Tight end Ben Cleveland did earlier this month.<br> <br> Springdale receiver Andrew Norman also has said he will attend Arkansas.<br> <br> Also Monday, London Crawford, who committed to LSU last fall, decided to switch to Arkansas. Crawford, of Mobile (Ala.) Davidson, had 31 catches for 837 yards and seven touchdowns this season, averaging 27 yards per catch.<br> <br> National signing day is Wednesday.
