JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) Saturday's Jacksonville-Georgia State game was canceled because of aftereffects from Hurricane Katrina.
Flooding caused by the storm damaged some of Georgia State's equipment, officials said. The game is not likely to be rescheduled.
It was the second straight Jacksonville game canceled because of the storm; the team's opener, scheduled for Sept. 1 against Southeastern Louisiana, was also erased by Katrina.
``Our players are eager to compete against someone other than themselves, but sometimes things are out of our control,'' Jacksonville coach Steve Gilbert said.
Jacksonville's debut is now set for Sept. 17, at Charleston Southern.
