Georgia State-Jacksonville game canceled

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) Saturday&#39;s Jacksonville-Georgia State game was canceled because of aftereffects from Hurricane Katrina.<br> <br> Flooding caused by the storm damaged some of Georgia State&#39;s equipment, officials said. The game is not likely to be rescheduled.<br> <br> It was the second straight Jacksonville game canceled because of the storm; the team&#39;s opener, scheduled for Sept. 1 against Southeastern Louisiana, was also erased by Katrina.<br> <br> ``Our players are eager to compete against someone other than themselves, but sometimes things are out of our control,&#39;&#39; Jacksonville coach Steve Gilbert said.<br> <br> Jacksonville&#39;s debut is now set for Sept. 17, at Charleston Southern.<br> <br> (Copyright 2005 by The Associated Press.
