SPLOSTs approved by wide margins

UNDATED - It wasn't even close as voters in Lumpkin and Habersham counties okayed sales tax issues that were on the ballot Tuesday.

In Lumpkin, the measure passed with 84% of the vote. The tally was 1,253-203.

In Habersham, 79% of the voters marked "yes" on their ballots. The tally there was 1,343-364.

In each case, the issue was an extension of the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax for education.
