WAYCROSS - Valdosta seems to have everything under control when facing Georgia opponents.
Coming off two straight one-point losses to Florida powerhouses, the Wildcats rebounded with a 21-14 win over Ware County.
A week ago, the Gators won 28-7 in an upset over Lowndes last week's No. 1 team in Class AAAAA. But Valdosta (3-2) had the upper hand this week over Ware County, who ranked No. 2 Class in AAAA.
``This was probably the best team we've played all season,'' Valdosta coach Rick Darlington said. ``They were as good as we thought they would be.''
After Valdosta claimed a 7-0 lead at halftime, it took Ware only 22 seconds in the third quarter to tie the game on a Victor Daniels' 61-yard TD run.
But Valdosta responded with a 9-play, 40-yard scoring drive capped with a 3-yard touchdown run by Michael Turner. Turner, who completed 3-of-6 passing for 59 yards, scored again on a quarterback sneak to give Valdosta a 21-7 lead in the fourth.
Daniels, who went 9-of-18 for 104 yards passing, ran for 53 yards and a touchdown for Ware County (5-1).
