Timkin moving engineers to Greenville

<p>Automotive bearing manufacturer, the Timkin Co., will put 110 engineers into a facility at the new International Center for Automotive Research, the company said.</p><p>Timkin said Thursday it will combine product engineering for its powertrain products now in Torrington, Conn., with process engineering for the same business now in Norcross, Ga., at the research park being developed by Clemson University.</p><p>Timkin has bearings factories in Clinton, Gaffney, Honea Path, Walhalla and Union.</p><p>Other engineers at the Connecticut and Georgia operations will be moved to Detroit or Canton, Ohio, where Timkin is based, spokeswoman Denise Bowler said.</p><p>The engineers are being offered the chance to move to Greenville, but it is unclear how many will do so, Bowler said.</p><p>___</p><p>HASH(0x1cd8078)</p><p>___</p><p>HASH(0x1d016b4)</p>
