BRASELTON - Tim Conley of Braselton finished off a three-stroke victory today in the rain-plagued Georgia Open.
Conley shot a 15-under 273 to beat Ned Michaels of Atlanta. Dave Schreyer of Peachtree City, a two-time tournament champion, was another stroke back at 277.
Murrayville's Josh Bunch finished in a three-way tie for fifth with a 282 total. Bunch, a regular on the Hooter's Tour, fired a final round 70, which was the fourth best score of the day.
Conley started the morning with two straight birdies at The Legends at Chateau Elan, where he is a member. He stretched his lead to six strokes, giving him plenty of breathing room even when he bogeyed three of the last five holes.
Michaels made a late charge with three straight birdies beginning at Number 14, pushing him past Schreyer into second place. The tournament ended in a downpour with the final group putting out at 18.
The defending Georgia Open champion, Tim Weinhart of Duluth, was 14 strokes behind Conley in a tie for 13th. Joe Green of Duluth was the top amateur with a 1-over 289.
