TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) Alabama coach Mike Shula didn't receive a raise this year, but he got one for his entire 12-member support staff.
Crimson Tide defensive coordinator Joe Kines and offensive coordinator Dave Rader also received two-year contracts, which the trustees' compensation committee approved on Tuesday.
Kines got the biggest pay hike, with a $28,000 raise boosting his salary to $240,000. Rader got a $5,000 raise to $217,000.
The rest of the football staff, including the other seven assistants, received one-year deals through June 30, 2006.
Dave Ungerer, who coaches the special teams and tight ends, has the third-highest salary at $174,600 after a $5,000 raise.
Shula received a one-year contract extension through Jan. 31, 2010 in June, but his $900,000 salary remained unchanged.
Athletic director Mal Moore said Shula didn't ask for a raise for himself.
``I want to have a great staff around me, No. 1,'' Shula said. ``I'm not worried about a raise or anything like that. I'm worried about winning football games. And the best way I know to do that is to keep our staff which I think is a very, very good staff together.''
