Semrau signs three-year extension

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) Florida State coach Sue Semrau signed a three-year contract extension Tuesday, keeping her with the Seminoles through the 2008-09 season.<br> <br> Semrau won her second Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year award last season after guiding the Seminoles to a 24-8 record and the second round of the NCAA Tournament. It was the first time in 14 years Florida State had topped 20 wins.<br> <br> The Seminoles began last year 12-0, the best start in school history.<br> <br> ``This extension represents both a reward for last season&#39;s accomplishments and an acknowledgment that our women&#39;s basketball program can achieve at a very high level,&#39;&#39; FSU athletic director Dave Hart said.<br> <br> Entering her ninth season at Florida State, Semrau is 116-118 and has led the Seminoles to three top-four finishes in the ACC over the last five years.<br> <br> The Seminoles finished last in the ACC three times in four year prior to Semrau&#39;s arrival.<br> <br> ``We have been able to make great strides in this program over the past several years and I am looking forward to taking this team to even greater heights,&#39;&#39; Semrau said.<br> <br> (Copyright 2005 by The Associated Press.
