COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) South Carolina fullback Lanard Stafford and outside linebacker Jerod June have been given scholarships for this school year, coach Steve Spurrier said Thursday.<br>

Both players earned team awards during spring practice. Stafford, who at 5-9 and 253 pounds originally joined the team as an offensive lineman, received the team's Steve Sisk Outstanding Blocker Award. He has since moved to fullback.<br>

June earned the team's Most Improved Defensive Back Award. He missed much of the 2004 season after undergoing reconstructive surgery on his thumb.<br>
<br>
The Gamecocks also added eight walk-on players to the roster including a receiver, a quarterback and two kickers.<br>
