CINCINNATI (AP) Bob Huggins has stepped down under pressure as Cincinnati's basketball coach.
The moves comes a day after the 51-year-old coach was given an ultimatum of resigning or be fired. Huggins' attorney, Richard Katz, says a tentative agreement has been reached for him to leave the job. Details are still being worked out on Huggins' compensation.
The ouster of Huggins is a result of university president Nancy Zimpher's desire to change the program's image. She wants to see players with better grades recruited and coaches to serve as better role models. Huggins was convicted of drunken driving last year.
During Huggins' 16-year tenure, the Bearcats reached the Final Four and were ranked number-one nationally for the first time in 34 years.
