TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) Florida State quarterback Xavier Lee returned to practice Tuesday as the Seminoles began game week preparations for Monday's season opener against Miami.

Lee sat out the final scrimmage of preseason camp Friday because of soreness in his throwing shoulder, and he played just seven snaps in the scrimmage prior to that.

That's opened the door for Drew Weatherford, who threw for over 700 yards in those two scrimmages and has all but locked up the starting quarterback job.

However, FSU coach Bobby Bowden has still not officially announced which one of his freshman signal callers will take the first snap against the Hurricanes.

``It's all up to them,'' Weatherford said of the coaching staff. ``I'm going to be ready regardless of whether I'm starting or not. I'm going to treat it the same.''

However, Bowden did let Weatherford take the majority of snaps with the first team Tuesday, a departure from the equitable split the two quarterbacks received during the preseason.

The veteran coach has hinted on numerous occasions that both Lee and Weatherford could play against Miami.

The place-kicking job may also be close to decided. Bowden said sophomore Gary Cismesia has shaken the slump that caused the job to open up two weeks ago and he has ``the edge'' on the position heading into the opener.
