General manager Rich McKay said the Atlanta Falcons have agreed to contract terms with five of their eight draft picks.

With most players reporting Sunday night and the first practice of training camp beginning Monday afternoon, the Falcons are still negotiating with receiver Roddy White, defensive end Chauncey Davis and linebacker Michael Boley.

McKay declined to discuss ongoing contract talks.

Atlanta will sign defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux, linebacker Jordan Beck, offensive tackle Frank Omilaye, running back DeAndra Cobb and defensive tackle Darrell Shropshire before they begin a 2:30 p.m. workout at team headquarters.

Terms of the deals were not immediately available.

White's agent, Neil Schwartz, would not speculate if his client will participate in the first practice. The Falcons drafted White, who led the nation last year at Alabama-Birmingham with 1,452 receiving yards, with the 27th overall pick.

Because the NFL salary cap is $85.5 million and nearly $5 million higher than last year, White is likely to eventually sign a deal comparable to but slightly higher than defensive end Jason Babin's with Houston. Babin earned a six-year deal worth approximately $7.6 million.

One of the holdups in signing White, Davis and Boley might be Atlanta's cap status. Just a few days ago, the team was just $365,874 under the cap and had yet to create room by renegotiating the deal of a highly-paid veteran like Patrick Kerney or Keith Brooking.

The Falcons replenished their depth at defensive end Sunday by signing Erik Flowers, a five-year veteran who spent the last two seasons as a backup in St. Louis. Atlanta has a lack of depth at the position as right-side starter Brady Smith recovers from neck surgery and Davis remains unsigned.

Buffalo drafted Flowers in the first round of 2000 out of Arizona State. In two years with the Bills, Flowers had four sacks in 31 games. He spent 2002 with Houston after the Texans took him in the expansion draft.

Flowers spent the last two years as a backup in St. Louis. He recorded just one sack over the last three seasons, a span of 31 games.
