By
EAST DUBLIN, Ga. (AP) Toilet seats, hub caps, gallons of mud, seed spitting and pig's feet may sound like good lyrics to a country song, but provided in the right quantities they are the perfect ingredients to another successful Summer Redneck Games.

This year kicked off the 10th anniversary of the now infamous Redneck Games. The games began in 1996 when local radio station Y-96 General Manager Mac Davis and then program director ``Big Charlie'' wanted to tie the station in with the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta. Since then, the games have brought in thousands of rednecks and wannabe rednecks from across the globe. And to some, getting everyone together is what it's all about.

``This (the games) is what it's all 'bout,'' said Redneck extradinaire L-Bow, who has been hanging around the games just about every year. ``These are a bunch of hard working people who don't get out much. It's good for them to get out and have a good time.''

The Redneck Games have received attention from various people around the world and has also hosted national and international news networks from all over.

Each year the Redneck Games try to have special guests to participate in the events. This year, Steve R. Schirripa, better know as Bobby ``Bacala'' Baccalieri of the Sopranos got to test his redneck skills.

``Don't tell me I'm no redneck,'' he said after taking a quick three to nothing lead in redneck horseshoes.

He also got to dine on a tasty redneck treat not many get a chance to sample, as he went bobbin' for pigs feet.

As for another local and proud redneck who's been around the games for several years, Freight Train, the games have a deeper meaning than flopping in mud or chomping on pig's feet. This is a time for everyone to get together.

``It's all 'bout getting around with people and enjoyin' life and don't worry 'bout nothing,'' he said.

The games kicked off Saturday afternoon at Buckeye Park in East Dublin with the lighting of the ceremonial grill. Games such as redneck horseshoes, the hubcap hurl, bobbin' for pig's feet, the mud pit belly flop and the seed spitting contest were set to continue throughout the day, depending on the weather.

(Copyright 2005 by The Associated Press.
