Bill Burke, director of basketball operations the last three seasons, will become Pitino's administrative assistant. Brian Merritt, a program assistant the last two years, will replace Burke as the director of basketball operations. Pitino announced the moves Friday.
Burke takes over for Vince Taylor, who is leaving for an NBA job. Taylor was elevated to administrative assistant in April. Before joining the Cardinal staff in 2002, Burke spent 20 years with investment firms in New York and San Francisco.
Merritt has coached in AAU leagues, ran a successful scouting service and worked at basketball camps over the last seven years. He played two seasons in college, one at Butler, Pa., Community College and one at Towson University.
