Braselton breaks ground for police, municipal court complex

By by Ken Stanford
BRASELTON - Mayor Pat Graham, the Braselton Town Council and others broke ground Wednesday for the town's first new municipal building in nearly 90 years.

The Braselton Police & Municipal Court facility will be located adjacent to the historic Town Hall on Georgia Highway 53. The $4.2 million center will house the police department and municipal court and additional space for civic functions. Funding for the project is provided by general revenues and development impact fees.

"In 2001, we implemented a full-time police department, and we now have a staff of thirteen officers and administrator," said Mayor Graham.

The Facility Group of Smyrna is contracted for planning, program management, design and construction. It is scheduled for completion in mid-2006.
