Vols' incoming freshman quarterback to have surgery

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Jonathan Crompton, an incoming freshman quarterback at Tennessee, will have shoulder surgery early next month.<br>
<br>
The university said in a news release Tuesday night that Crompton has cartilage damage in his throwing shoulder.<br>
<br>
Crompton, of Waynesville, N.C., has already enrolled for summer classes.<br>
<br>
``Jonathan has worked diligently to get ready for this fall, but he is making the right decision for his long-term health and future,'' coach Phillip Fulmer said.<br>
