FSU's Sexton Said Not to Have Drug Problem

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Florida State quarterback Wyatt Sexton is being treated for an undisclosed illness but doesn&#39;t have a drug problem, his father said Thursday.<br> <br> Seminoles running backs coach Billy Sexton wouldn&#39;t specify what type of treatment his son is getting. Wyatt Sexton was taken to the hospital by police Monday after he was found acting strangely in the middle of a street and telling officers that he was &#34;God.&#34;<br> <br> &#34;Wyatt is under the care of physicians for a medical problem and at this time he will remain under their care,&#34; Billy Sexton said in a one-page release faxed to The Associated Press. &#34;His doctors have informed us that drug abuse is not the problem.&#34;<br> <br> Since the 20-year-old Sexton was suspended for two weeks earlier this month, there had been speculation it might have been for failing a drug test or refusing to take one.<br> <br> Some of his friends have said he was stressed from the pressures of trying to secure the starting job. Redshirt freshmen Xavier Lee and Drew Weatherford were also battling for the position, but Sexton was the favorite to start for the Seminoles next season.<br> <br> Florida State opens its season Sept. 5 against Miami.<br> <br> &#34;Our focus as a family is to ensure that our son, whom we love and support in every regard, gets the care that he needs until he makes a full and complete recovery,&#34; Billy Sexton said. &#34;The outpouring of love and support from so many people for Wyatt and our family has been overwhelming and a source of great comfort to all of us.&#34;<br> <br> © 2005 The Associated Press.
