South Carolina's Boyd suspended

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) Running back Cory Boyd has been suspended from South Carolina for violating athletic department policy, the school said.<br> <br> School spokeswoman Michelle Schmitt said Boyd was not part of the Gamecocks right now.<br> <br> Coach Steve Spurrier said the move did not come because of Boyd&#39;s grades. ``He&#39;s got some issues he&#39;s working on,&#39;&#39; Spurrier said.<br> <br> A statement from Schmitt said that while Boyd ``is a student in good standing with the University and currently enrolled in classes, he is not part of the football team due to athletic department policy.&#39;&#39;<br> <br> It is the second-straight summer Boyd wasn&#39;t part of the team. Then coach Lou Holtz kept seven players, including Boyd and dismissed players Moe Thompson and Demetris Summers, from Gamecock workouts.
