CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) Shanice Stephens was hired as Clemson's final women's basketball assistant, following her old boss from Rice to the Lady Tigers.
Stephens worked under Cristy McKinney with the Lady Owls from 1995-2005. She will serve as McKinney's recruiting coordinator at Clemson.
``Shanice brings a lot of experience,'' McKinney said. ``She's worked with me in the past and knows what sort of things worked at Rice.''
During Stephens' time at Rice, the women's team had a 179-94 record.
McKinney, who took over in April for longtime Clemson coach Jim Davis, had previously named another of her Rice assistants, Todd Steelman, to her Lady Tigers staff. McKinney also retained Davis' former player, Itoro Coleman, as an assistant and hired ex-Lady Tiger Kanetra Queen director of women's basketball operations.
