Man electrocuted on MARTA tracks during police chase

<p>A man who was running from police was killed at the Atlanta airport's commuter train station when he came in contact with the electrified third rail.</p><p>The man was being pursued by Union City police for stealing a car Thursday evening, police Sgt. George Louth said.</p><p>The man, whose name has not been released, led police on a short chase on Interstate 85 before taking the airport exit, where he collided head-on with another vehicle near the north terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, officials said.</p><p>The Union City officer stayed at the scene of the wreck to make sure the occupant of the second car was not hurt, Louth said.</p><p>Meanwhile, the suspect ran into the airport building and then onto the train station platform before being electrocuted, said Jocelyn Baker, spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority.</p><p>Train service at the airport was shut down as officials tried to determine whether the man jumped onto the train tracks or fell.</p><p>The Union City Police Department is investigating the chase.</p><p>___</p><p>HASH(0x1cd9d3c)</p>
