DURHAM, N.C. (AP) N.C. State's Gib Hobson and Adam McLaurin combined for a four-hit shutout as Duke fell Friday to the 23rd-ranked Wolfpack, 22-0.
Javier Socorro doubled and Brett Bartles, John Berger and J.J. Koterba all provided singles, but that was all the Duke offense could muster, not even getting a runner past second base.
Senior right-hander Greg Burke took the loss. The Wolfpack got to Burke for two runs in the first on a pair of walks, a single and a stolen base.
After that half-inning, neither team had a baserunner until the top of the fourth, when a pair of walks and double by Brian Aragon gave the Wolfpack a 4-0 lead. Hobson retired the first 10 Blue Devils before allowing a one-out infield single to Bartles in the bottom of the fourth.
The Wolfpack put up seven more in the ninth, two coming on a dropped fly ball, to wrap up the win.
