Guard leaves Commodores after sophomore season

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Vanderbilt coach Melanie Balcomb granted guard Katie Antony a release from the Commodores, school officials announced Monday.<br> <br> The sophomore from Anacoco, La., started 15 games and played in 30 this season for the Commodores, averaging 19.7 minutes and 5.1 points per game. The school gave no reason why Antony asked to be released.<br> <br> ``We&#39;ve appreciated Katie&#39;s contributions to the program while she was here. She&#39;s been a good player for us who&#39;s given us a lot of minutes in her two years,&#39;&#39; Balcomb said.<br> <br> The Commodores reached the second round of the NCAA tournament before losing to Michigan State, which plays for the national title Tuesday night.<br> <br> (Copyright 2005 by The Associated Press.
