We the People concert raises tsunami relief

HELEN - Northeast Georgia musicians sang and played for the Asian tsunami victims this weekend in Helen.

We the People concert organizer Rory Knapton said it was a full house in the Helen Chamber of Commerce Festhalle.

"It takes very little money to save the lives of a lot of kids and we raised enough money I'm told to save the lives of thousands of kids," Knapton said.

Concert goers also put in a personal touch, drawing messages on paper posters to be sent with the concert money to the World Vision relief organization, building shelters for homeless children.

From Bluegrass to the Blues, music lovers enjoyed their sounds and contributed to a good cause at the same time.

Tommy Preston played the blues at the Festhalle free of charge to help raise money.

"They're really good hearted people and anytime an opportunity comes up to do something for a good cause, you'll see musicians doing it," Preston said.
