Hall County assistant principal jobs coming open

GAINESVILLE - Hall County School board members approved administrative changes effecting three schools Monday night.

School Superintendent Dr. Dennis Fordham said he will looking for a replacement to fill an assistant principal's position at West Hall High School.

"Larry Parker, one of the assistant principals at West Hall High School is retiring and we wish him well in his retirement," Fordham said.

Board members also learned that Janice Reiselt is resigning as assistant principal at Spout Springs Elementary School to work in another system.

Rick Conner, assistant principal at East Hall High School, is leaving for a principal's job in Lumpkin County and his resignation is effective the end of this month.

A LOOK AT BLOCK SCHEDULING

Board members decided to form a committee and take a closer look at block scheduling after board member Nath Morris questioned if it was the best thing for students.

Morris said students need sustained instruction for subjects like math but a student could take a math class for one semester and not take it again for another year with block scheduling.

Block scheduling calls for 90 minute classes with four classes a day in high schools.

WILL SCHOFIELD VISITS

The man in line to replace retiring School Superintendent Dr. Dennis Fordham said he will focus on parental involvement with students.

Will Schofield said he found parents very involved with their children in the Montana school district he is leaving.

"I certainly will take that experience and try to cultivate it here,raise the level of awareness and get even more families involved" Schofield said

Schofield was West Hall Middle School principal seven years ago and comes back to Hall County after two years as Anderson School District Superintendent in Bozeman,Montana.
Fordham announced plans to retire last November.
