Suwyn resigns as managing editor of Savannah Morning News

<p>M. Daniel Suwyn has resigned as managing editor of the Savannah Morning News, saying he plans to pursue other interests after a decade as the No. 2 newsroom executive at Georgia's fourth-largest newspaper.</p><p>Suwyn stepped down three months after helping lead the Morning News' transition from downtown Savannah, the newspaper's home of 155 years, to a new $37 million headquarters on the city's outskirts.</p><p>"This community has been wonderful to me and my family, and our plan is to stay here," Suwyn told his staff in announcing his departure Tuesday. "I have always believed in the quirky, ambitious potential of Savannah and my hope is that the newspaper has reflected that."</p><p>Suwyn's departure is the second announced by a top manager at the Morning News in recent months. Publisher Frank T. Anderson is retiring next month, to be replaced by Julian Miller.</p><p>"We wish Dan all the best in the next chapter of his life," Anderson said.</p><p>No replacement for Suwyn has been announced.</p><p>___</p><p>HASH(0x2866694)</p>
