<p>Former Atlanta Braves outfielder Ron Gant was involved in a fatal wreck after a pickup truck turned in front of him not far from the Atlanta airport, police said Wednesday.</p><p>Fulton County Police said James Allen, 74, of Douglasville apparently was trying to make a left turn Tuesday afternoon, cut into oncoming traffic and was struck by a sport utility vehicle driven by Gant.</p><p>Allen died at the scene. Gant was was not seriously injured, and no charges were expected, police spokesman Gary Syblis said.</p><p>Gant, 39, was drafted by the Braves in 1983 and played in Atlanta from 1987 through the 1993 season. He had two 100 RBI years and hit more than 30 homers three seasons, including 36 in 1993. He fractured his right leg in a February 1994 dirt bike accident. The injury kept him out the entire year, and the Braves released him.</p><p>He also played for the Cincinnati Reds, the St. Louis Cardinals, the Phillies, the Angels, the Rockies and Padres. His last season was with the Oakland A's in 2003.</p>
